When ESPN needed a lively backdrop for their remote broadcast stage at the College Football Championships, the team at Experience Scottsdale selected M Catering and our longtime experiential marketing partner, ETZEL Agency, to provide the solution. Our winning proposal laid out our plans for for a multi-day, three-part event that celebrated the competing teams, Auburn University and the University of Oregon. We turned a vacant lot along the canal into a festival playground, even planting grass weeks in advance, and a week before the big game launched the event with:
- the “Two Dollar Tailgate” featuring 8 of Scottsdale’s premier restaurants and their Executive Chefs, each offering 2 different items for – you guessed it – $2 each;
- the three-day “Bud Light Fiesta” featuring activations by several national College Football sponsors, a football field (remember that grass we planted?), and M Catering’s concessions stands and Bud Light-sponsored bars everywhere;
- and the final day featuring back-to-back pep rallies celebrating Auburn first and then Oregon – with an amazingly smooth transition between the two crowds of passionate fans!
When all was said and done, Auburn carried the day and took home the national championship, but everyone at the Bud Light Fiesta went home a winner!
